Facial Contouring & Volumisation
JAWLINE CONTOURING

The jawline is an area of the face that can change dramatically with age. Many patients inquire about how to reverse the effects of ageing without resorting to a surgical procedure as the initial step. In other cases, patients with a receding or weak jawline feel that their appearance can be vastly improved if they had just a touch more definition or volume.

Dermal fillers help anyone who wants to reshape, contour, tighten, and define the look of their jawline without surgery and its associated costs and recovery time.

By placing filler along the jawline, we will be able to sculpt a tighter, more defined profile; making your face appear slimmer.

JAWLINE SLIMMING

Conversely, an over-pronounced or over-angled jawline can be aesthetically displeasing. In women, especially, a square shaped face is often associated with masculinity. Often, this square shape is caused by hypertrophy of the masseter muscle.

You can find your masseter by feeling the angle of your jaw and clenching your teeth together. That muscle that you feel flexing is your masseter. If the masseter is hypertrophic (has been over-exercised and gotten too big) neuromodulators aka muscle relaxants such as Botox and Dysport can help.
*Fun fact: neuromodulators can also be used in the masseters to relieve symptoms of TMJ.

Jowl Reduction Using Jawline Fillers

Pre-jowl sulcus, or that little bit of sagging or pooching in the jawline, is an obvious indicator of aging. As we get older, the fat pads throughout our face start to reduce and separate from each other. This separation and the result of gravity create heaviness in the lower face, often along the jawline.

Depending on the severity of the jowling, different treatment options may be available. Dermal filler injections along the jawline can help to anchor and support the jowling to make it less prominent. Dermal filler injections may also be indicated in the cheeks to help to create lift in the lower face.
Another treatment option is injecting lipo-dissolve (double chin treatment) directly into the fat in the jowls. Lipo-dissolve is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid that is injected into fat to permanently dissolve it.
Combination therapy of dermal fillers and lipo-dissolve may be recommended for optimal results.

Chin Augmentation

The goal of chin augmentation is to restore facial harmony. Chin augmentation can be used to define an underdeveloped chin or give it more definition.

According to PHI, the length of the chin should be approximately 1.618 to the to the total volume of the top and bottom lip together. Furthermore, the projection of the chin should create a straight line with the top lip and bottom lip when viewed in profile. Dermal fillers are used to achieve these proportions whether we are looking to lengthen or project the chin.
